Child Support Services: Program Overview and 2025 Legislative Updates

December 2 @ 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM
$40

Join BIDC as we welcome Abigail Keefe for an informative presentation on Child Support Services.

The Child Support Services program is a complex program that assists parents and caretakers by
establishing parentage and support orders, modifying existing orders, and enforcing orders to
ensure timely payment. The program works closely with judicial and State partners to establish
right-sized orders and utilize a variety of enforcement remedies to encourage compliance. The
program is governed by both federal policy and state laws. The Colorado Child Support
Commission meets regularly to provide legislative recommendations. As a result of their 2023
Quadrennial Review, the Commission recommended several legislative changes that were signed
into law on May 31, 2025, within House Bill 25-1159. This presentation will provide an
overview of the child support program and will go into detail about the legislative changes that
went into effect in 2025 and 2026 and how they impact child support orders. Lastly, we will
explore how domestic violence impacts families in the CSS program and how we are responding.
