BIDC Request for New Board Member Applications

The BIDC unites an interdisciplinary community of professionals working in the complex realm of divorce, family law, parental responsibility and mental health. Our mission is to improve outcomes for families by providing training, consultation and community to professionals who navigate family law issues. From its beginnings in the 1970s, the BIDC has supported the Boulder professional community with programming on various aspects of divorce and child custody proceedings. The interdisciplinary approach is at the heart of the BIDC’s commitments. By educating members on issues of law, psychology and evaluation, each professional develops a well-rounded understanding of the issues and systems impacting their clients’ lives. Members come from many disciplines, including social work, psychology and law.

Why join the board?

  • As Board members, you experience a deeper connection with colleagues outside of the litigation context;

  • The board provides an excellent opportunity for professional networking; deepening relationships with attorneys, mental health professionals, judges, paralegals, as well as court-appointed personnel (CFI and PRE’s);

  • Great experience serving on a non-profit board (no experience necessary);

  • Are you a paralegal who would like to get to know other attorneys in a collegial setting?;

  • Opportunity to shape content for the Family Law Bar in Boulder County (recent programming includes topics such as Trauma presentation in child-custody proceedings, litigation abuse in family law, current trends in supervised parenting and dividing retirement assets, among others).

Deadline: Please submit a brief application (click here for application) to newboulderIDC@gmail.com no later than Monday, March 28th. New Board members will be notified by the end of April.

Please Note: Commitment is generally 2-5 hours per month. This includes monthly board meetings (currently virtual) and additional involvement at your discretion.
